Well, after much procrastination, another sculpt has rolled off the press.

Here it is - it's not fully painted yet, but it photographs better in grey.

Yet again, the medium was papier mache around an aluminium armature.

The model for this one was the lovely lozie, check out her blog at:

the face is nothing like her, she was the inspiration for the pose

(she was carrying a broom handle in the original photo!)

I'm going to start adding links (just over there on the right)

and every once in a while I'll post some images from them

to give you a taster of what to expect when you go there.

There'll be lots of links to sculptors so you can see the kind of work I'm impressed by, but also links to other artists as well.

First up, I'll give a nod to Martin Butler, an Australian artist whose beautiful illustrations are a masterclass in forced perspective and exquisite distortion. If only I could apply to my sculptures what he does with charcoal and paint...

(Unfortunately, there aren't as many illustrations as when I first discovered him a few years ago, but there's still plenty to appreciate, including a few youtube videos of the man doing what he does best - creating his art!)

...here's something I made earlier.

Albert Einstein, genius,

sculpted in plasteline,

approx 7 inches tall.

He's been refined somewhat since these pictures were taken,

and is now in the process of being moulded and cast up.

And here's the side view...

Next up, Charles Darwin, another genius.

(but not until I've finished the papier mache lady mentioned in the first post)

Got to start this blog somewhere,

so this seems a good place...

Here's my latest sculpture.

She stands 18 inches tall

and is made from papier mache

over an aluminium armature.

Already under way with the next one,

so I'll hopefully post some progress shots

in the next few days.
